The Riga Street Typology Guidebook serves as a manual for effective and sustainable street design. To apply the principles of good design to any street in Riga, a matrix of street categories has been developed. This matrix facilitates the organization of street space according to its intended purpose.

The Academic Centre of The Latvian University is becoming one of Riga’s most important knowledge centers. The House of Sports building is designed to function as a connecting element among multiple faculties of Latvian University, cultivating a vibrant and active en-vironment in the new Academic Centre. The House of Sports integrates sports facilities with other elements, including academic spaces, community resources, and urban design.

Situated in the heart of Riga Old Town, the hotel complex has been developed in accordance with the historical subdivision of land plots, creating nine volumes with varying heights, facades, and materials. The proposal respects the unique heritage of the surroundings and reinterprets it in a modern language.

Zaķusala Residential Quarter II represents a distinctive evolution of the first building phase, featuring an urban structure defined by free standing volumes integrated with the surroundings. To harmonize the new apartment block with the natural landscape, the color palette of the facades takes inspiration from the hues present in nature.

Zaķusala Residential Quarter I is an anchor object in Zaķusala residential development. The architecture of the building was inspired by the unique location in Zaķusala in the middle of the Daugava. The residential building will be the first and for a while also the only residential building on the island.

The former textile factory “Lenta” is set to be transformed into a vivid mixed-use development. The proposed masterplan offers to open the territory to the public, creating a pedestrian loop around the main factory building. The project follows the principles of urban acupuncture –industrial structures are being preserved and upgraded for new functions.

The modular timber construction residential project is a sustainable response to the initiatives of Latvian cities and regions aimed at renovating and creating a new, high-quality housing stock. The shortage of modern housing in Latvia is currently highly relevant in both urban and rural areas.

Residential Quarter I is the first building phase of the Zunda Park territory development located next to Zunda Canal. It is an open city block with a connection to Zunda Canal and the rest of the territory. The volumes create a silhouette inspired by the historical and industrial neighborhoods around.

The project concept is two urban quarters forming a complex next to Hanzas Street, connected by an urban and public square. The square links the street with the green zone of the territory. The main project character is an urban streetscape in contrast with the terraced building silhouette facing the green zone and sunny courtyards.

The historical KIMMEL factory area has been a unique and special area in Riga City for two centuries. The proposal turns KIMMEL QUARTER into a lively urban hub for business, leisure and culture and blends new spatial and urban qualities in the city scale.

The main concept of the project is to create an eye-catching landmark in the urban environment of Mārupe—an idea that combines urban space character with internal courtyards suitable for recreation. It is both a public and urban environment and a quiet green area typical of the suburbs as well.

Krasta City's development proposal combines investment-friendly office buildings with a pedestrian-friendly and publicly accessible multifunctional urban environment. The first-stage building has the greatest height contrast and the strongest identity: two 17-storey high office towers on a 4-storey high base. This building would create a unique new landmark for Riga.

Zunda Park is at the crossroads, where a wide spectrum of neighborhoods, high-rises, industrial heritage, a university campus, low-density residential areas, and a high-density highway meet. The proposal respects the history and unique conditions of the site and transforms it into a green neighborhood. Zunda Park establishes new city connections and fosters modern living, working, and recreational conditions along the Zunda Canal.

The kindergarten, situated on the slope of the old pine forest hill, encloses the safe hub for children and functions as a new landmark for the town. Constructed in CLT, it brings warmth into the interior and unites everyone under the big roof. Spacious terraces facing the south gives the possibility to hold activities outdoors.

The project proposes luxury urban villas next to Māras Pond, an area that historically has featured the character of luxury villas next to the pond. The project consists of two types of buildings with loggias, offering different views of the water. The proposed buildings are prefabricated with white and yellow pigment and subtle detailing, referencing the historical villas next to Māras Pond.

The project explores the possibilities of transforming Lāčplēša Street plot 76 into a new multifunctional business quarter. The main concept of the development revolves around a central square, preserving the post-industrial chimney as a landmark and organizing the space to be pedestrian-friendly.

The new school volume respects the existing surrounding situation and light conditions. For a smooth transition and optimal light conditions, the volume steps down towards the south and smaller scale volumes at Lõkke and Toom Kuninga streets. The school's inner room structure is organized around an atrium with stairs in the middle.

The proposal offers a unified, simple-volume building that accommodates all the necessary school functions under one roof. The structure is organized around the large school "living room," where various collective activities take place, including creativity and hand-action classes, music, cooking activities, and casual gatherings for breaks.

The park is a place surrounded by trees and a forest, symbolically gathering all the inhabitants of Gulbene. A large part of Gulbene's public life is concentrated here. The park is designed as a unified public space with a stage for various events and trading places during festivals or events. The center of the territory is the newly modified pool with fountain, which attracts life and serves as the "Swan Lake Center."

The building of the daycare center is designed as a compact structure that wraps around the courtyard. The exterior is bright and unassuming, creating a space for the residents to feel at home. The inner courtyard, with its color accent, marks the main common areas next to it. It is designed as a terrace where smaller events can be held in the fresh air.

The orientation of the building in Central Park is defined by the main axis that runs through it. The building is designed to make effective use of the park area, ensuring that half of the competition area remains accessible for outdoor public recreation. The spatial composition of the building is inspired by tango motifs with short and long steps, resulting in a dynamic public space.

The new school building is designed as a compact volume consisting of three parts, decreasing towards the west side. With all its public functions, it opens to the public axis in the center of the plot. The outdoor space next to it supports the school's activities. Wood is the main construction material, creating a cozy and pleasant environment for learning, both inside and on the exterior facade.

The vision focuses on integrating the urbanism of reuse & recycling to create an exciting all year-round destination for all, rather than pushing away the mechanism and spaces of this sector in mutation today.

The project of multifunctional building combines multiple important functions for the town of Olaine – library, art school, concert hall and a cafe. The concept of the building is made of a composition of three different volumes stucked on top of each other, in which each volume has its own function.

The project proposal seamlessly integrates into the Mārupe neighborhood, embracing the advantages of the environment and location to introduce an urban character. This involves establishing a distinct building structure and defined street space. A gradation is introduced in the outdoor space, incorporating a local center in front of commercial areas at the beginning of the territory. The structure within the inner quarters is naturally semi-private/public, fostering diversity. Courtyards are spatially enclosed by buildings but ensure accessibility. The first stage of the quarter has obtained a building permit.

The new school building in Sillamae, Estonia, is a compact two-story volume in timber construction, creating a cozy and modest environment for learning, sports, and recreation. The scale and volume of the building are carefully designed to integrate seamlessly into the existing environment, characterized by double Stalinist buildings along the wild bank of the dam river.

The project proposal aims to create the new Helsinki East Urban Centre as a green, pedestrian- and bike-friendly, multifunctional, and accessible urban district with a scale and proportions similar to the Helsinki City center. Currently disconnected districts are connected with a public ground level, and the traffic junction is relocated to the level below.

The vision of the Paralympic Sports Center provides a new attractive sports centre in the neighborhood for both athletes and residents of the city. The Sports Centre is designed as a park for leisure and sports, specially adapted for people with reduced mobility. The concept of this offer is based on the linear public strip open space extending along the existing Bisumuiza ditch, which provides direct connections to all sports facilities and sports fields. Sports facilities and fields are compact, creating abbreviated distances between them.

The proposal follows the existing Tampere City urban grid to maximize sunlight exposure for residential blocks and designates each street as a view corridor to the lake. The overall structure of the district consists of two interconnected street blocks in an East-West direction, both featuring low-traffic, pedestrian-friendly, and bike-friendly streets.

Dailes Theater square is one of the few public squares in the historical center of Riga, and it is crucial to enhance the usability and accessibility of this square for various activities of everyday city life. The square is divided into three functional zones, which collectively contribute to a unified image and ambiance of the square.

The Tare Environment House brings together the Estonian Ministry of the Environment and the Estonian Museum of Nature within a single facility. The core of Estonian identity finds its origins in nature and traditions. The inspiration for the vision is a traditional wooden log building with a gable roof, a symbol of the Estonian cultural landscape.

The Skanste kindergarten project proposal envisions the new building with shared functions that will bring together the existing preschool educational institutions into a cohesive complex, both physically and visually. The concept of the building is an intersection. The new building is planned as a free-standing two-story volume connected to the existing kindergarten buildings with single-story glazed corridors.

The project is situated in a suburban environment. The main concept of the proposal is to create a defined backbone for the new district. Free-standing buildings are positioned along the street space, establishing an urban street scale. Parking lots are organized along the street, creating green recreation spaces between the buildings. The main views are towards the forest and the small river.

The project highlights three notions that encapsulate the nature of the project: first, to create an image of a contemporary and unhindered city block; second, to establish an inviting and lively public space; and third, to facilitate LAC becoming a more creative and modern institution of higher education.

Pētersalas Street 3 and Pētersalas Street 5 land plots are situated within the perimeter building area of Riga's historical center and its designated protection zone. The development proposal embraces a modern approach while honoring the cultural and historical significance of the buildings at Pētersalas Street 3 and Pētersalas Street 5, which date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

VEF Quarter is a former factory territory in the Riga city center. The primary objective is to transform it into a multifunctional work environment featuring various activities. The core concept involves creating a dense building perimeter surrounding a recreational center—a park situated in the heart of the area. All ground floors are designed for public access and house diverse functions.

Viesturdārzs Quarter is a new residential project in the center of Riga, Latvia. Located next to Viesturdārzs park, it represents the best values of modest Baltic architecture, sophisticated landscape design, and the best possibilities of prefabricated concrete panels. There are three separate land plots, each with its own inner courtyard, connected by a public pedestrian walkway.

The project consists of four parts: the Multimodal Central Station, a new bridge overpass in the vicinity of Riga Old Town, a new bridge over the Daugava River, and the overall Masterplan of the area. The proposed solutions aim to address several urban planning and transportation challenges currently facing Riga, including connectivity issues, neglected and unused areas around the City Canal, Central Market, and the Central Station area.

Mūkusala Promenade is a 2.2 km-long strip that begins in front of Riga Old Town and extends beyond the city center. The concept is connected to the varying width of the Daugava River. At the widest part of the river in front of Old Town, the amphitheater is situated as the main attraction. In areas where the river narrows, public swimming pools, riverside beaches, and small cafes on the water are strategically placed.

The new masterplan focuses on the reorganization of streets. The main street, Zaķusalas Boulevard, will be moved deeper into the island, creating building plots on both sides towards the shoreline. It will be a central artery of the neighborhood and the main axis for public and private transport, allowing for pedestrian-friendly urban development next to the waterfront.

The science and innovation center "Trampoline" is the new landmark of Ventspils. It is located on the central axis of Venta bridge. The building’s central accent is the science tree which was planted in the courtyard of the building and is visible from the entire science park as also from all the rest of the building. All the functions are arranged around the atrium.

The building as well as the main entrance of the science center is placed on the central axis of the Venta bridge in the plot. The building footprint is a square complemented with architecturally expressive vertical volumes that display the buildings spatially and attractively both interior and exterior functions.

The existing market hall was built in 1967 and is located outside the historical center of Talsi City. It is proposed to be renovated and expanded. An extra outdoor market hall and new building for small enterprises are added. It creates lively and functional market complex for the local residents.
