Base of the concept is the scale of the Daugava river and . The width of Daugava in front of Old Town is the widest (around 600m) – so the promenade in this area is more public with amphitheater as the main attraction. The width of Daugava towards Zaķusala island is around 300m and it neighbours a business district so extra platforms in water are placed to add some public areas next to water. The width of Daugava towards Lucavsala is the smallest – around 100m – in this area public swimming pools, riverside beach and small cafes on water are placed. A new pedestrian bridge is also proposed to connect Lucavsala with promenade.
